Mizata Foundation November Updates: WASH Progress, River Protection & Community Sports Revival

This month, we were honored to host Nicole & Rosie’s retreat, a beautiful gathering centered on connection, empowerment, and giving back. Their group played a key role in fundraising for community toilets, supporting families who currently lack safe and dignified bathroom facilities.

Their contribution directly strengthens our broader WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Initiative, which aims to improve health and hygiene conditions across Mizata. Thanks to the generosity and commitment of their retreat, we are not only able to build essential toilets—we are also building long-term momentum to expand WASH access throughout the community.

We are thrilled to share that Nicole & Rosie will be returning next year, and together, we will continue fundraising and working toward a future where every household in Mizata has proper sanitation.

^{Healing the Heart of Mizata: Launching Our River Protection Initiative}

We officially launched the Mizata River Regeneration Initiative, an environmental program dedicated to healing and protecting the river that flows through our community.

In collaboration with local families, we have begun:

• Cleaning and restoring key sections of the river
  
  
• Regenerating native plant and animal species
  
  
• Mapping environmental risks and restoration points
  
  
• Educating youth and the wider community on river stewardship
  
  

Healthy rivers are the lifeline of biodiversity, agriculture, and community wellbeing. This initiative represents a meaningful step in restoring the balance of our natural environment and safeguarding Mizata’s ecosystem for future generations.

^{Play, Pride & Possibility: Strengthening Community Sports in Mizata}

Sports continue to bring joy, confidence, and connection to children and youth in Mizata. This month, we made major progress on improving the central Mizata football field, thanks to a powerful combination of retreat support and community partnerships.

Neno’s retreat played a significant role in fundraising for improvements to the football field, helping give young players a space that is safer, more functional, and full of pride.

At the same time, we received a generous donation from Rotary, who provided brand-new nets for the field. These were installed this month, immediately transforming the space and energizing the Football Academy and local players.

With stronger community partnerships and growing youth participation, the football academy continues to evolve into a safe, positive, and empowering space for Mizata’s next generation.
