When Community Comes Together
July at Mizata was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when local leaders, national institutions, retreat guests, and dedicated volunteers come together for the greater good. Here are some of the highlights from everything that unfolded:
July Highlights
- Beach Cleanup Campaign
In July, we launched a huge beach cleanup campaign, joining forces with the Ministry of Environment and the Salvadoran Navy. Alongside local community leaders, volunteers, and friends of Mizata, we worked to clean up our coastlines and communities. Ps- Don’t forget to join us the first weekend of every month for our community beach clean-up campaigns.
- School Bags for the English Academy
We were also thrilled to welcome the retreat of Nataline Cruz, whose group carried out incredible work in support of our students. Together with her participants, Nataline raised more than $1,600 to purchase school bags for children attending the English Academy. This generosity ensures that our students have the tools and resources they need to thrive in their studies, boosting both confidence and educational opportunities. - Volunteer Spotlight: Marlies & the Dog Program
We also had the honor of welcoming Marlies from Belgium as a volunteer this month. She became an important cornerstone in helping strengthen our dog program at the hotel in partnership with the Impawssible Village Dog Sanctuary in Mizata. Her dedication, compassion, and hands-on work with the animals made a lasting impact. Thank you so much for joining us, Marlies, we can’t wait to welcome you back!
